Ghost Stories...

I think back on my childhood with various
degrees of emotions.
Some good, some not SO good!
I remember when family would visit.
It seems that two subjects would always surface.
Talking about God and His love and mercy
was one subject, ALMOST always enjoyable.
When they'd begin to delve into the book of Revelation,
I'd look at the door and wish I were brave
enough to leave! lol
The talk of the plagues and such sent
shivers down my spine!

The other subject was about ghosts.
There, I've said it!
They'd start off talking about experiences they'd had
of the unexplained, and tell of stories they'd heard!
Now if you don't think that a story about "Headless Frank"
will scare you as a child...all I can say is, you had to be there!
By the way, THAT was a true story that occurred in Tallapoosa Missouri.
Oh! Wait! Here's another one!
Get this:
"Rawhead and Bloodybones!"
NO wonder I'm a scarred adult! lol
The funny part is:
...when all their blood curdling chatter was done,
...company would leave, and we were left whimpering in the corner!
What did they think?
We'd jump up and go on about our lives like THEY were as ADULTS!
Nooooooooo! Not on your life!
The torment continued, for DAYS!
Oh! And at bedtime...wasn't that a hoot!
They'd tuck us in bed...then tell us "Don't let the bedbugs bite!"
Shoot! I was up all night checking for insects!
I never found one, but I'm still LOOKING! lol

Hmmmm...maybe that's why I CAN'T SLEEP nights?! lol

  1. Ha! Ha! Ha! I think any generation that belonged to and came after W.W. was forever afraid to put their foot on the floor until morning? I was about 11 years old before I convinced myself that RawHead & Bloody Bones didn't live under my bed. Do you think that was his way of making sure that no one snuck out of the house after the lights were out and everyone was suppose to be sleeping?
